Century Flour Mills Limited was established in the year 1953 and commenced production in 1955 with an initial installed capacity of 25 MT per day. The milling equipments were supplied by M/s.Robinson of England. The Founder Directors are : Dr.P.Maruthai Pillai and Sri.P.Govindaswamy. Sri.G.Ravindran is the Chairman and Managing Director. This was the first pneumatic mill established East of Suez incorporating the direct pneumatic lift system. The initial capacity of 25 MT was expanded to 90 MT during 1957 by installing an additional plant, known as "B" mill, supplied by M/s Robinson of England. During the year 1959 construction started for the third unit known as "C" mill and was completed in 1960. The capacity of this unit was 125 MT per day. The machinery were supplied by Germany. |

During the year 1989-90 the screen room of 'C' Mill" was revamped completely and a total Dry cleaning system was installed. These equipments were supplied by Henry Simon's of England with a capacity of 10 MT per hour or 240 MT per day incorporating the dry cleaning system. |

During the year 1996-97 the main power house was revamped completely incorporating the on line tap control to maintain uniform supply of electricity. New double M.V. Panels were installed and the screen room of A & B Mill was revamped completely. The existing Robinson Screen room of B mill was replaced with a complete Buhler Screen room of 12 MT per hour or 280 MT per Day capacity incorporating the dry cleaning process. |

Realizing the need for further upgradation the "C" mill was further revamped during the year 1998 with state of art equipment imported from Republic of CZECH which is capable of producing different varieties of flour and the capacity of this plant was increased to 150 MT per day. During the year 2003-04, keeping up with the emerging trends in the flour milling industry, the company installed balancing equipments to improve the quality of products and also replaced a substantial portion of the Henry Simon cleaning machinery installed in 1990 with Buhler machinery. |

The milling complex is
situated at No.2, Tank Bund Road, Ottery, Perambur, Chennai - 600 012, which
consists of three plants viz. A, B & C mills having an installed capacity
of 250 MT per day. The built up area of the milling complex is about 1,70,000
Sq.ft spread over an area of 7.8 acres. |

Good quality wheat is purchased for manufacture of Maida, Sooji, Atta and Bran through Railway wagons from the States of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, etc.,. (Expert technicians analyse the wheat samples on various parameters in the company laboratory before the wheat is procured.) The company has also entered the retail market and for this purpose a dealership network has been established in the State of Kerala and parts of Tamilnadu and the response has been encouraging. During the year 1996-97 the Company installed fully Automatic packing machine for packing 1kg and 1/2 kg packets. Exports The company in recent
years has also established itself in the export market and has been exporting

We have been awarded ISO 9001 : 2008 by M/s. TUV SUDDEUTSCHLAND AG. MUNICH, GERMANY, the first flour mill in India to receive this certification. The above certification ensures good manufacturing practice which in turn assures the highest quality. We have also been awarded ISO 22000 : 2005 by M/s. TUV NORD, the first flour mill in India to receive this certification. The above certification ensures hygiene and food safety on our products.
